He formed Newport Yacht & Launch Company, LLC in March 2002. The company designs and manufactures motor yachts and launches from twenty to forty feet in length, for both the recreational and commercial markets. Mr. Doyle has been immersed in engineering and design in the marine field for over fourteen years. As an independent consultant, he engineered the Katama-30 jet boat for C.W. Hood Yachts of Marblehead, Massachusetts. The Katama-30 is a sophisticated Down-East style recreational boat. His experience encompasses hydrodynamic design; structural engineering with various materials including wood, steel, aluminum, and advanced composites; propulsion system engineering; resistance and speed estimates; propeller selection and analysis; design and technical experience in marine propulsion equipment, including waterjets; as well as noise attenuation and sound abatement. Additional skills compliment his marine technical core, including design for manufacturing; production planning and management; and establishing computer databases for production, inventory, and purchasing. Educated at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He is also a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. He resides in Newport, Rhode Island, and is a runner and avid sailor.
